Complete renovation and refurbishment of a three storey Victorian terraced property; including new rear extension and mains drainage.
Client brief was to retain as many of the properties original features whilst at the same time increasing overall energy performance to achieve the Government future minimum property rental standard of category C.
All original ground floorboards were carefully removed, insulation installed within floor joists and then floorboards re-installed & refurbished, internal faces of external walls were clad in insulation boards and all roof spaces insulated. The building energy efficiency increased from energy rating of 63D to an energy rating of 76C. Primary energy use was 248kWh per sqm and the achieved energy use is now 148kWh per sqm.
Rear Extension created an enlarged open plan kitchen with dining room area and direct access to the garden. This new area was designed with a modern aesthetic to create a juxtaposition against the period features of the original part of the home.
